Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines planes takeoff at the same time from San Francisco International Airport (SFO) in San Francisco, California, United States on June 21, 2023. President Joe Biden's Justice Department has successfully had two airline link-ups halted in court in recent months. That doesn't necessarily spell doom for Alaska Air's plan to buy Hawaiian Airlines . The decision immediately sparked questions of whether an Alaska-Hawaiian combination would suffer a similar fate in an antitrust lawsuit. The Justice Department didn't immediately respond to a request for comment about whether it plans to challenge Alaska and Hawaiian's proposed deal.

I crept to the edge of my seat and looked at the red light, fearing it would turn green. Then I looked into the rearview mirror, worried about the cars coming up behind us. The cab continued to idle, and I still couldn’t find the driver. He ran back and hopped into the cab just before the light turned green. “It’s the first time in 35 years that I’ve seen my wife while I was working,” he said.

I got driven in the Rolls-Royce Cullinan SUV and Ghost sedan. The Rolls-Royce Cullinan starts at around $400,000. Getting whisked to my destination in a $500,000 Rolls-Royce Cullinan SUV provided an even fuller picture of the good life — and disproved once and for all the notion that you can't get any happier after making $75,000 per year. The Rolls-Royce Cullinan's headrest had trim that matched the cabin's blue theme. The Rolls-Royce Ghost is little sibling of the Phantom.

The SFO is investigating former employees of Glencore's UK subsidiary Glencore Energy UK Limited over potential criminal offences in relation to its operations in West Africa. The ex-Glencore employees who are under investigation by the SFO have been granted anonymity pending a decision by the SFO on whether to bring criminal charges. Glencore's UK subsidiary last year admitted seven bribery offences related to paying – or failing to prevent the payment of – millions of dollars in bribes to officials in Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Ivory Coast, Nigeria and South Sudan. At its sentencing in November, prosecutors told the court that Glencore employees and agents used private jets to transfer cash to pay bribes to officials in Cameroon and South Sudan. Glencore was ordered to pay a total penalty of 276.4 million pounds ($352 million) for its offending, which the sentencing judge described as "endemic" corruption.

Two United Airlines employees have been charged for their alleged roles in a drug-selling scheme. They were accused of making at least $10,000 a week stealing weed from checked bags and selling it. The Justice Department charged two United Airlines baggage handlers, alleging they participated in a years-long scheme to sell marijuana stolen out of passengers' bags. Neither SFO nor United Airlines immediately responded to Insider's request for comment. In 2017, SFO employees told SF Weekly that they didn't confiscate "a personal use amount" of marijuana from passengers.

A predominantly red map of California shows the 1984 presidential election results, where former U.S. President Ronald Reagan won in a landslide. Online posts are falsely saying it shows results from the 2020 general election. However, it shows results from the 1984 presidential election, where only Alameda, Marin, San Francisco, Santa Cruz, and Yolo counties voted Democrat while the rest of the state voted Republican (here). The California Secretary of State (SoS) shared the 1984 presidential election results in an email to Reuters, where the results match the map being shared online. The map shows presidential election results in California for 1984, not 2020.

[1/2] Trade visitors walk past an advertisement for BAE Systems at Farnborough International Airshow in Farnborough, Britain, July 17, 2018. REUTERS/Toby MelvilleNEW DELHI, May 29 (Reuters) - India has filed a graft case against Britain's BAE Systems plc (BAES.L) and Rolls-Royce Holdings (RR.L) for "criminal conspiracy" in the procurement and licensed manufacturing of 123 advanced jet trainers, a federal police document showed. The case is based on the findings of an investigation launched by India's Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in 2016, the document dated May 23 said. In its response BAE said it would be inappropriate to comment on an ongoing probe. Between 2008 and 2010, it said the Indian government approved the licensed manufacturing of an additional 57 jets for 95 billion rupees ($1.16 billion) under a separate agreement with BAE Systems (Operations) Ltd.
He had appealed to the High Court to overturn a decision by Britain's home secretary (interior minister) to order his extradition in January. But two High Court senior judges did not even grant him permission for an appeal. "The United States’ legal overreach into the UK is a threat to the rights of all British citizens and the sovereignty of the UK," he said in a statement. HP sued Lynch in London's High Court following the deal. Hussain was convicted of fraud in the United States and sentenced to five years in prison in 2019.

American airlines planes are seen at San Francisco International Airport (SFO) in San Francisco, California, United States on September 15, 2022. American Airlines is getting rid of its traditional frequent flyer award chart as the carrier moves toward dynamic pricing for mileage redemptions, the latest shift in its lucrative AAdvantage loyalty program. American in December said it would get rid of different redemption categories, MileSAAver and AAnytime awards, which have set minimum rates. The new redemption level will be called "Flight Awards" and the chart will serve as a reference guide. American introduced dynamic pricing for award tickets in 2019, meaning the number of miles required to redeem for a ticket fluctuate based on supply and demand.

Hayden told CNN she enlisted the help of a detective at San Mateo police force who was working at SFO. She told CNN United gave her $271 and 5,000 air miles after complaining about the condition of the headphones.
LONDON, March 15 (Reuters) - Tech entrepreneur Mike Lynch asked a London court to block his extradition to the United States to face criminal charges over Hewlett Packard's $11 billion acquisition of his software company Autonomy, arguing he should be prosecuted in Britain. Lynch – the co-founder of Autonomy, who was once hailed as Britain's answer to Bill Gates – faces 17 charges over the 2011 takeover, which was one of Britain's biggest tech deals. Britain's interior ministry on the same day ordered Lynch's extradition to the United States. Bailin also gave updated details of HP's civil lawsuit against Lynch and Hussain, who was jailed in a San Francisco court for five years in 2019. Lynch intends to apply for permission to appeal against the ruling on HP's lawsuit, Bailin said in court filings.

That's when the 69-year-old test pilot found a residential airpark at the Pine Mountain Lake Airport. There are about 90 homes with hangars that have deeded access to use the taxiways and runway at the Tuolumne County airport in the residential airpark. As a test pilot, Sobczak works primarily out of the San Francisco International Airport (SFO). Because the Tuolumne County airport has no control tower, residents of the airpark use a common traffic advisory frequency so pilots can broadcast their position and intended flight path. Part of Sobczak's deed includes access to the Tuolumne County airport.
